Sharon Van Etten Explores Empathy in New Track "Southern Life" and Expands North American Tour

Sharon Van Etten, alongside her new band the Attachment Theory, has unveiled a fresh track titled “Southern Life (What It Must Be Like).” This song serves as the second teaser for their upcoming self-titled album and follows the earlier release of their lead single "Afterlife." A music video accompanying the new single has also been released.

The inspiration behind “Southern Life (What It Must Be Like)” revolves around the theme of empathy, as Van Etten expresses the challenges of understanding individuals from diverse backgrounds while maintaining compassion for the different stages of our own lives—past, present, and future.

In addition to the new music, the band has announced an expansion of their previously revealed European tour to include North American dates, with Love Spells joining as the supporting act.

The self-titled album by Sharon Van Etten & the Attachment Theory is set for a release on February 7 through Jagjaguwar. Fans are encouraged to reflect on Van Etten's previous work, particularly her acclaimed 2022 album.
