Optimo Music is set to unveil the debut album from Glasgow-based artist Iona Fortune. Titled Tao Of I, this LP will be released on May 26th, marking Fortune's first solo project in any form. Prior to this, she contributed the track "White Tigress" to the Miracle Steps: Music From The Fourth World 1983-2017 compilation, which was curated by Fergus Clark from 12th Isle and JD Twitch of Optimo.
The new album is described as aligning loosely with the Fourth World musical concept, a vision advanced by Jon Hassell. Inspired by Eastern philosophies, Tao Of I is intended to be the first installation in an ambitious eight-album series that seeks to explore the various symbols represented in the I Ching. The soundscape will incorporate a diverse instrumental palette, featuring elements such as the guzheng, gamelan, and the EMS Synthi AKS synthesizer.
The album's tracklist includes:
01. Qián 02. Kun 03. Zhun 04. Méng 05. Xu 06. Sòng 07. Shi 08. Bi
Audio samplers from the album are available for those interested in previewing Fortune's unique sound. With this release, listeners can expect an intriguing blend of philosophical concepts and innovative musical experimentation.
